Part D Senior Savings Program
We know that the cost of insulin can be a roadblock to managing your diabetes. Going without your insulin or taking less than you should, can lead to serious health issues. Excellus BlueCross BlueShield cares about your health and wants to see you stay on track with your insulin medication.
For select plans, we are offering a new program to help members save money on their insulin costs. In 2021, members will be able to purchase select insulins at preferred pharmacies for a $25 copay for a 30-day supply and $30 for a 30-day supply at standard pharmacies. These copays apply during the deductible, initial, and coverage gap phases of the Part D benefit.
- Medicare Blue Choice Value HMO
- Medicare Blue Choice Value Plus HMO-POS
- Medicare Blue Choice Optimum HMO-POS
- Medicare Blue Secure PPO
- Medicare Blue Enhanced PPO
Insulins Covered Through the Program
Select insulins listed on the formulary with the description “ISP” next to them are included in the Program. Some examples are Humalog™, Insulin Lispro, Lantus™, Toujeo™ Please note: If you get an exception for a non-formulary insulin such as Novolog™, the lower copays will not apply.
This program only applies to insulin filled under your Part D plan. Insulin used in an insulin pump is covered under your Part B (not Part D) benefit.
At our participating retail pharmacies and home delivery pharmacies, you can get a 90-day supply of select insulins and save even more money! Pay only two copays - $50 at preferred pharmacies or $60 at standard pharmacies for a 90-day supply of insulin.
